Schuylkill County Housing Authority Notice of Continued Occupancy Policy for Public Housing Over-Income Families

To All Public Housing Residents and General Public:

HUD establishes income limits by family size for the area in which each PHA (Public Housing Authority) is located. These income limits will be published by HUD annually and are used to determine the family's initial eligibility and level of assistance for the public housing program. Section 103 of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) of 2016 amended of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937 and placed an income on families for continued occupancy in public housing units.

Pursuant to HUD regulations, the Schuylkill County Housing Authority hereby provides 30 days' notice to the public regarding Continued Occupancy Policy for Public Housing Over-Income Families:

Dates available for review: May 11, 2023 to June 12, 2023

The PHA records and documents that provide the basis for the Continued Occupancy Policy for Public Housing Over-Income Families are available for review and comment during the dates listed above and at the following location:

SCHA's Main Administrative Office: 245 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

The SCHA will gather all comments and review them at the close of the comment period. The SCHA will respond to comments within 30 days from May 11, 2023 to June 12, 2023 of the close of the comment period. Such written comments will be retained by the SCHA and shall be available for inspection by the tenants and general public.

Proposed effective date of implementation: June 14, 2023

Smoke-Free Property Notice

Due to the increased risk of fire, increased maintenance costs and the known health effects of secondhand smoke, the Schuylkill County Housing Authority has determined that for the benefit and well-being of the residents, guests, employees and all who visit any of the Schuylkill County Housing Authority facilities, smoking will not be permitted on any Housing Authority properties effective April 1, 2018.
